Peugeot launches new campaign on TikTok to bust myths about electric vehicles

By TikTok for Business@tiktokforbusiness

The campaign features a diverse range of creators, who drive far and wide in the new Peugeot fully electric e-208 and e-2008 to show just how far an electric vehicle can take them. It also sees entrepreneur and edutainer @maxklymenko, travel lover @lotteeboo3 and dad @rubberhobo tackling common misconceptions about how long it takes to charge electric cars.

With the 'Where can a full charge take you?' campaign, Peugeot has also become the first automotive manufacturer to run TikTok's Spark Ads solution in the UK. This native ad format enables brands to amplify organic videos and target relevant audiences on TikTok.

Jack Carter, Brand Partnerships Automotive Lead at TikTok, said: "What I love most about this campaign is the innovative way Peugeot has worked with creators to send an authentic yet powerful message about sustainability. It's something the TikTok community really cares about and I'm excited to see how this campaign progresses.

"As sustainability climbs higher on the agenda and the shift towards electric vehicles accelerates, it's great to see one of the leading automotive brands embracing the joy and creativity of TikTok as they explain the benefits of electric vehicles and debunk myths."

Steven Wass, Marketing Director at Peugeot, said: "Peugeot launched its first, new-generation electric vehicle, the e-208, at the beginning of 2020 and since then we’ve added an electrified variant to 70% of models within our range. 100% of our range will have an electrified version by 2024. As our electric vehicle offerings grow, it’s important we support our customers, or potential customers, in understanding this new technology and dispelling the myths surrounding it.

"With the conversations already happening on TikTok around electric vehicles and sustainability, it was a great platform to use to launch this campaign and allowed the creators to bring their content to life in an engaging and innovative way."

After lockdown put the brakes on traditional methods of buying a car, more people switched to browsing new vehicles online and TikTok emerged as an ideal 'virtual showroom' for the automotive industry.

A burgeoning community of car fans are finding a home on TikTok, illustrated by the #CarsofTikTok hashtag receiving over 23.9 billion views and the #EVhashtag topping 2 billion views. Alongside this #sustainability (518 million views) continues to be high on the agenda for the TikTok community, with people sharing how they are doing their bit for the environment.

The campaign will launch today and run until the end of December.
