Dont Make Ads, Make TikToks - Our challenge to the industry

TikTok is excited to be taking part in Most Contagious 2020 on the 9th and 10th December, and this year we're setting attendees a challenge for a chance to be part of the show: unleash your creativity and recreate your favourite ads in a TikTok. 

'Dont Make Ads. Make TikToks.' is designed to inspire making TikToks over ads so brands can realise the immense potential of TikTok for themselves, achieving greater engagement and satisfaction as a result.

Winning entries will be featured throughout Most Contagious 2020, meaning you - or your brand - can take centre stage to show off your unrivalled creativity. Here's what to think about when planning your TikTok:

  • Rather than just re-creating a TV commercial, we want you to reimagine what that could be on TikTok…

  • Is your chosen ad from the early noughties, how can you get it to translate to 2020? And be loved by TikTok users? Does it need to be modernised?

  • How can you create different scenes / scenarios using only the in-app tools and filters: think green screen, face tracker, timewarp, screen mirroring, crowd and multiply effects. There's something for everyone. 

  • Can you tap into popular trends? Discover the latest trends on the platform's Discover tab.

What you need to do:

  1. Choose your favourite ad that you want to recreate

  2. Post on your personal TikTok with the hashtag #dontmakeads & #mostcontagious

  3. Don't forget to let us know in the caption which ad you're paying homage to!

The deadline for entries is Friday 27 November and the winners will be shown during the event, alongside attempts from the Most Contagious team. Good luck - get creative, go big (and stay home!).
